Bond Investors Deserve Better
Steve Shaw is the leading expert for empowering individual investors to invest in
individual corporate bonds.
His combination of investment analysis and bond e-trading experience provides
insights no other investment service
provides and includes:
- Financial analysis skills honed over 28 years in corporate finance, mergers
& acquisitions, and bond investment
analysis
- Deep understanding of bond e-trading systems and how to use the information
provided to make successful investments
- Investment recommendations that have outperformed the world's most popular bond
funds
Most self-directed investors are comfortable investing in stocks but not bonds.
Steve founded Bondsavvy to change this.
Steve's APPROACH TO BOND INVESTING
Steve has developed an investment method that speaks to the investment rationale of
recommended bonds. Bondsavvy
identifies corporate bonds that are undervalued relative to the strength of the
issuing company's financials and
can achieve strong total returns. Steve's unique approach challenges many bond
investing orthodoxies and
has driven strong investment returns for Bondsavvy's retail investor
subscribers.
Steve began his financial markets career in the Financial Institutions Investment
Banking Group
of Bear Stearns in the 1990s and
worked in the Mergers & Acquisitions and Media & Communications Groups of TD
Securities
from 1999-2006. He later
deepened his knowledge of the media, communications, social media, and big data
businesses as
Vice President, Corporate Development
of Tribune Media Company.
Steve’s Experience with Bond E-Trading Systems
In addition to his investment experience, Steve has deep knowledge of the bond markets,
having
worked for two leading fixed income
electronic trading companies: BondDesk Group and Tradeweb Direct. While leading Tradeweb
Direct, Steve worked with retail
brokerages, including Fidelity and Charles Schwab, where Tradeweb built systems to
improve the
efficiency of corporate bond
trading for retail investors. Steve joined Tradeweb after leading an investment into the
company
by a group of nine global
investment banks, including UBS, where he worked in the Strategic Acquisitions Group.
As he learned more about how the corporate bond
market worked, Steve began investing in individual corporate bonds. His
significant
experience in financial analysis and his understanding
of how corporate bonds are traded helped him create a method he follows when making
corporate
bond investments. This method
has driven strong investment returns and laid the foundation for Bondsavvy.
The Parallels of Investing and Triathlon
Steve began his triathlon career in 2012 after having lunch with another bond industry
executive
who had participated in triathlon.
Since then, Steve has become a 4-time IRONMAN triathlon finisher (2.4-mile swim,
112-mile bike, 26.2-mile run). He is also a 15-time finisher of IRONMAN 70.3-distance
triathlons (1.2-mile
swim, 56-mile bike, 13.1-mile
run), with a personal best of 5:34:13 at IRONMAN 70.3 Mont-Tremblant in 2017.

Success in triathlon and investing require many of the same attributes: drive,
organization, persistence, discipline, and
a desire to always learn and get better. After each race, Steve evaluates how he
performed in each leg, transitions,
and nutrition and finds ways to improve in the next race. He does the same with each new
set of Bondsavvy corporate
bond recommendations: continuously refining our investment approach to generate strong
returns.
The best investors are always learning and adapting.
